The Process
The process of converting pre-existing decentralized wastewater treatment plants to the Ignition platform involved several different aspects in order to guarantee proper integration occurred without the loss of functionality to the sites.
- Established connection links with the field devices such as PLCs and HMIs.
- Enhanced the efficiency of data management utilizing Ignition OPC UA server.
- Designed response screens using Ignition Perspective module to develop web-responsive visualizations to permit the remote viewing and control of wastewater plants regardless of the device screen size.
- Developed a standardized tag structure for various treatment types from the UDTS in Ignition to enable the ability for quick deployment of new sites and the development of standard views for faster visualization.
- Enabled the logging of historical data into a MySQL database with the use of Ignition's tag historian to allow for easy analysis of current and future trends.
- Integrated a unique authentication system that allows access control to Ignition by utilizing database user source in Ignition. This enabled the use of the pre-existing existing hawkms.com authentication to simultaneously manage hawkms.com and Ignition access in one place.
- Integrated the Ignition remote monitoring and control view was as a service into our current hawkms.com SAAS web application.
- Developed custom graphics use in Ignition to create a unique experience and enhance the user interface to depict the different treatment processes more accurately.
- Established audit logs to document the activities of the operators, to ensure that there is accountability of the changes made that will affect plant operations.
